A branch of one of the oldest carpet family, Habib Carpets traces its origins to Sheikh Din Muhammad who started carpet business in Lahore, in 1930s. As the business gradually grew, his son Maulvi Ghulam Ahmed moved to Bombay where he established a wholesale carpet trade. The India-Pakistan partition in 1947 saw Maulvi Ghulam Ahmed shift to Karachi, where he launched his carpet business under the banner of Habib Carpets. It was one of the first carpet outlets to be opened in the capital of a country newly born on the map of the world.
